Do Yourself a Favor...Read The Book.

I chose this rating even though I have no cancer, and am just now taking this tea. I have done great research and read many reviews and a few books to get the story of this tea. I really enjoyed seeing and listening to Rene Caisse herself, on Youtube in an interview of many years passed. It was amazing. If you have not seen and heard this truly magnificent and selfless woman, please go to You tube and listen to, and see her. I lost a sister to cancer in 1995, and a sister to diabetes in 2012. Had I known about this tea, and the cancer curing and diabetes curing properties, they may still be with us today. My husband and I are taking this tea after I researched it. My daughter in law had part of one breast removed due to cancer. I bought the book, "Essiac" for her and my son to read before taking the tea. Do your homework and read this book to know why and what, the protocol, and expectations are when you start this tea for a specific illness, or just maintaining your health. Not only would I recommend this book to everyone who wants to stay healthy, I am buying books to give to others to spread the word about this apparently remarkable cure for cancer as well as other diseases.

Great book - Essiac:A Native Herbal Cancer Remedy

We have now been brewing our own since getting the book. It has a kinda woody taste, as it should when you look at the ingredients. We added a couple of extra herbals to the mix to gain some extra fighting power. I would highly recommend that before even starting this, take a week and get the lower bowels cleaned out. If the walls of the intestines are covered, then there is no way to get this absorbed properly. Your local health food store can guide you. If you are fighting the big C, get some Seagate - Grape Seed Extract caps. Causes apoptosis of the C cells!!

A miracle cure

I was diagnosed with stage IV melanoma and had three tumors removed from my lung and brain. My doctors told me that there was nothing they could do further, "go home and die", I had three or four months! I searched the web and found Cassie's book and took Essiac for a year. I am still alive 12 years later. I have given the book to anyone with cancer who will try it. In spite of doctors it seems to work.

About the Author

Charlotte Perkins Gilman (1860–1935) was the author of novels, short stories, poems, and works of nonfiction. She is best known for “The Yellow Wallpaper” (1892), Women and Economics (1898), and the novel Herland (1915).
Dana Seitler is Assistant Professor of Literary Theory and Cultural Studies at Wayne State University.

Recommended read, it's always interesting to see where Gilman ...

This is a fairly quick read of a book, longer than Gilman's usual short story, but not something that would take weeks to read either. This particular copy is a bit different than most books. This one is a reprint of a "historic book" which in this case seems to mean the original page numbers happen to be in the middle of paragraphs, sentences and sometimes even words. It's a bit distracting at first, but you get used to it after a page or two. Each page is laid out in three columns, and the whole thing is the size of a composition notebook, though not nearly as thick. If that layout would distract you, there are other printings available in "regular" paperback size, some are even anthologies. Recommended read, it's always interesting to see where Gilman went with her various works.

Should be studied more often

_The Crux_ isn't "great literature" but it is well worth reading for the insight into Charlotte Perkins Gilman's thinking about sexuality, gender, and health. In this text, you can trace some of the elements of her belief in eugenics, intertangled with her conviction that women should have satisfying careers and independent lives. In other words, as with so many of Gilman's contemporaries, the ideas that we think of as "progressive" and "reactionary" were, in this era, mutually constitutive. _The Crux_ makes for fascinating reading and lively discussion.

Lilith Starr is the founding Chapter Head of the Satanic Temple's Seattle Chapter. She holds a Harvard B.A. in English and a Stanford M.A. in Journalism. This is not a Satanism 101 book. This is not a how to of the Dark Arts. What this book is, is a collection of essays of how a Satanic woman has used the philosophies of Satanism to enrich and empower her life. Refreshingly absent is the empty posturing and false chest thumping found in other post LaVey works. One woman applying Satanism to carve out a productive and happy life. A good read.

I found this book to be very uplifting and brutally honest.The author is brutally honest in recalling her struggles along with how Satanism helped her to recover and be the person she is today.I highly recommend it to anyone who is curious about the principles of true Satanism.It is a very interesting read....

LOVE THIS BOOK!!!

I love this book! It has made such a huge difference in my life. The author has experienced many of the things I have experienced. So the book speaks to me on a very personal level. The fact that the author also belongs to TST is an added bonus. I greatly admire TST and the work that they do, fighting for our freedom to live without having religion shoved down our throats.

Rafal Kuc is a born team leader and software developer. Currently working as a Consultant and a Software Engineer at Sematext Inc, where he concentrates on open source technologies such as Apache Lucene and Solr, ElasticSearch, and Hadoop stack. He has more than 10 years of experience in various software branches, from banking software to e-commerce products. He is mainly focused on Java, but open to every tool and programming language that will make the achievement of his goal easier and faster. Rafal is also one of the founders of the solr.pl site, where he tries to share his knowledge and help people with their problems with Solr and Lucene. He is also a speaker for various conferences around the world such as Lucene Eurocon, Berlin Buzzwords, and ApacheCon.

Rafal began his journey with Lucene in 2002 and it wasn't love at first sight. When he came back to Lucene later in 2003, he revised his thoughts about the framework and saw the potential in search technologies. Then Solr came and that was it. From then on, Rafal has concentrated on search technologies and data analysis. Right now Lucene, Solr, and ElasticSearch are his main points of interest.

Great idea - great set of concepts - poor attention to detail

I have to start off by saying that, without this book, I don't think I could have got my first Solr Cloud installation off the ground.

The book's layout, it's non-nonsense "do this, do that" style and the section at the end of each recipe, explaining what you just did are all great elements.

However, where this book suffers is in its attention to detail. While the author states clearly that it was based on Solr 4.0, many of the examples are either incorrect, incomplete or obsolete.

For example, using default="NEW" is discouraged in Solr 4, in favor of UUIDUpdateProcessorFactory.

Another example involves setting UTF-8 URI Encoding for Tomcat, which is an overhang from Solr 3 and no longer required in Solr 4.

The above examples are inconvenient. Some omissions are more serious. For example, in the section describing auto-generation of UUIDs for uploaded documents, while the description for setting up a UUID RequestProcessorChain is pretty straightforward, the documentation leaves out the key fact that requestHandler for /extract/update in solrconfig.xml needs to be told to invoke the uuid requestProcessor chain. Without this, the auto-generator will never be called and documents will fail upload with NULL unique keys.

Another bugbear is that spaces between words in fixed space font are often dropped. If the word looks long, chances are you're missing a space. (Note: This was on my Kindle Edition book. May not be the case in print.) This makes some commands fail.

These are just a few examples.

I wish I could recommend the book more highly but its many, many errors and omissions make this impossible. If the book goes through another round of proofreading and errata correction, it could be a solid 4-star.

if you are new to solr I would pass on this book. I personally need to come up to speed quickly on query. The examples are hard to follow and require significant understanding of solr query. If had this back ground I doubt you would find the recipes useful. You probably already know them

Also the kindle reader on mac is awkward to use. basic stuff like scrolling and font sizing do not work well.

For got to mention Its really hard to use the sample code. Its hard to figure out what code sample "task" maps to a particular recipe in the book. Finally never ever use spaces in file or directory names. It make using the code much harder
