Larry Fine's "Piano Book" is the weapon to get.

Larry Fine does an outstanding job with explaining how to recognize quality in pianos and how to get the trade-off you are looking for. As I read the book, particularly the first edition, it came more obvious which choices for a piano I would like to consider or weed out. It told me many of the aspects of the various piano manufacturers as well as what kind of sales gimmicks to be alert for when I am shopping for anything. Since this book will do all of this explaining, it would definitely be useful to any piano shopper, whether you are looking for one to use or rebuild. It could be also useful for anyone who is studying the economics because it even shows examples of all the different trade-off combinations that a purchaser can run into while shopping for a piano. The Piano Book is also useful because it has information that would be essential to piano owners as well as piano technicians. It tells them everything one needs to know while moving, maintaining, cleaning, or whatever the case may be. Since this is the case, it could help just about anyone involved with the piano decide wisely what they want to do as far as their instruments are concerned. Buying a piano? Buy this book first.

I just went through the process of researching and ultimately buying a piano. The most important part of this research was this book plus the accompanying 2016 supplement Acoustic & Digital Piano Buyer: Spring 2016 Supplement to The Piano Book. The Piano Book was easy and fun to read, and made me a much more informed piano shopper. The latest supplement contains prices - not just list but Larry's estimate of the most you should realistically have to pay. The two books together help you understand the piano industry and where each brand and each class of piano fits in, so you can find the best possible piano for your situation and budget. These books are also helpful if you're considering a used piano - and you should, as a good piano that's cared for will last much longer than a person's lifetime.

Buying a piano is a big investment, one that you'll have possibly the rest of your life. It's worth taking a few extra hours to educate yourself to be an informed shopping and make sure you make the best purchase decision. Larry Fine's excellent book is an important part of that.

Then, on their 12th birthday, their grandmother gives them the book of fairy tales he used to read to them. Suddenly it seems to come to life, and the youngsters find themselves falling into the Land of Stories, seemingly with no way to get out. Desperate, they follow instructions in a mysterious journal: if they gather eight items from various residents in the kingdoms of the Land of Stories, they can complete the Wishing Spell and have one wish granted. After scaling castle walls, diving deep into the home of mermaids, and meeting characters from all of the beloved fairy tales, they are stymied by the Evil Queen, who has escaped from Snow White's dungeon. With the hope of using the spell gone, the twins appear to have no way home until they meet Fairy Godmother, their own grandmother. In a way, they find comfort from their grief over their father's death when they realize that they have been following his journal and that he grew up in this land. The writing quality in this adventure is inconsistent and detracts from the fast-paced story. The deep sadness of the twins comes through, but they are somewhat one-dimensional, since Alex is so much the nerd and Conner, the class clown. The plotline, however, pulls readers in and is entertaining, and Colfer's passion for fairy tales shines through. Great story! Questionable language...

I am a 4th grade teacher and I read this book to my class. Most of my students LOVED it and always begged me to read more. The story line is very engaging and quick-moving. It was a great way to review fairy tales. Even as an adult I was very entertained by the adventures of these two kids as they journey through the Land of Stories and meet all of the fairy-tale characters we grew up reading about.

The reason I gave it 4 stars is because of the language. There is an occasional swear word which is just unnecessary. Obviously I didn't read those words aloud, but a few kids following along know that they were there. I have a hard time recommending a book to kids that has language that I wouldn't want them using.

My daughter is a big Harry Potter fan, and her teacher recommended this book to read. My daughter who is in 5th grade enjoyed this book. A book that transports you back into a land of fairytales. Get ready to be entertained with the adventures of two children as they journey through the Land Of Stories and meet all the fairy tale characters we grew up reading about. I enjoyed the book as much as my daughter did.

I went into this book with high hopes and lots of expectations. I love Chris Colfer, so I was excited to read this book. The writing is a reflection that he is indeed a new writer. Like we all want our books to do, it does leave a lot of guessing and "What just happened?!" moments. But as a lover of books and writing, it was hard to follow because of the elementary writing. What I will say to praise the book, however, is that although I didn't particularly like the style of prose, it was written as though one is telling a story rather than reading a book. The characters are lovable, our favorite fairy tales brought together in a beautiful new world that seems hardly big enough to hold them all. I enjoyed the story itself, and want to read the next ones to find out what happens. Definitely well suited for children, void of any sexual exploitations or language. It truly is a unique piece of work that should be entered into lightly with the expectation that you will get a new scope of the "Happily Ever Afters" we all wonder about.

I cannot recommend this course enough

I cannot recommend this course enough! I just had a completely natural, unmedicated birth with the help of this course. I bought the audio version as well and listened to this while on the go. Clark teaches you how to calmly breath your baby into this world and how to deal with a change in plans when it happens. Wouldn't want to have a natural birth without reading through this course first.

Typos on every other page!

I love the audio tracks that go along with this book, but the book itself is riddled with typos and looks unprofessional. (I am referring to the digital version for Kindle.) My recommendation: stick to the MP3s available in the digital music store and skip the book.
