Case-based Pharmacology Text

This book is very readable and once you get past the case-based format, it has a lot of good information in it. The case-based format does make it difficult to find facts at times. I have the Kindle version though and I am very disappointed that zooming is not enabled on the many tables in the book, making that information difficult, if not impossible to read. This needs to be improved. One of my classmates actually ended up buying the physical textbook in addition to her Kindle version due to this. Hopefully Amazon will work with the publishers to get this fixed, otherwise the Kindle version should be sold for less.

difficult to read alone for a class or subject due to the abundance of case after case; however, the book offers great reference guidelines and algorithms for quick reference on a particular practice case. Please keep in mind the book is updated every 3 years to my knowledge and would not reflect any new guidelines that take place.

Great resource for pharmacology course. Very heavy book. I would have bought it for my e reader but sometimes the tables and graphics in that format are unreadable. I was able to sell it back after I was done using it.

A good basic text on how to use self-hypnosis to improve numerous aspects of your life.

Even though this wonderful book (Self Hypnosis: and other mind-expanding techniques by Charles Tebbetts) is somewhat dated (published in 1988); nevertheless, most of the information in this text is still valid today. As I recall during the 1980s there was an enthusiastic interest in hypnosis and self-hypnosis. It was at that time I had also received training from numerous teachers of hypnosis and self-hypnosis to obtain my certification.

This 141 page paperback book is organized into six chapters, covering a wide range of material. The first chapter covers “how to find yourself” explaining hypnosis as a means of reaching the subconscious, misconceptions about hypnotism and how it feels to be hypnotized. The second chapter explains in detail the “self-hypnosis techniques” which provides numerous methods to use to enter the hypnosis state of mine. The third chapter focuses on “effective autosuggestion.” The fourth chapter covers “controlling destructive emotions” like anger, self-pity, guilt and other issues. The fifth chapter gives an overview of “other mind-expanding practices such as various meditation techniques. The final chapter provides information of “wealth, education, and welfare through self-hypnosis. There is also a recommended books and audiocassettes section at the end of the book.

If you are interested in a clear and simple explanation of self-hypnosis and how to improve yourself in a wide variety of ways using self-hypnosis, you should check out this volume.

This book provides electrical and electronic engineering undergraduate and graduate students and trainees with practical information on grounding-system parameters, and on different methods for measuring soil resistivity and ground resistance. It also presents some real-world studies, which enhance the learning experience. It discusses electromagnetic field theories to explain ground resistance modeling using different sizes of electrodes. Furthermore it includes CYME GRD software for simulation of soil resistivity and grounding grid design, and considers some fundamental concepts of power systems to clarify other topics related to the grounding system.

About the Author
Md. Abdus Salam obtained his PhD in Electrical Engineering, in 2000 from the University Teknologi Malaysia. Currently, he is working as a Faculty member in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Faculty of Engineering at the Institut Teknologi Brunei (Our National Engineering and Technology University), Negara Brunei Darussalam. His research interests include power system modelling for on-line control, insulator pollution studies, grounding systems and renewable energy. He has published a large number of referred journal and conference papers. He is a senior member of IEEE, member of IET and working as a reviewer of IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation, IET Generation, Transmission and Distribution, Journal of Electrostatics, Elsevier Science etc.

Quazi M. Rahman obtained his PhD degree from the University of Calgary, Canada in 2002. Currently, he is serving as a faculty member in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, at the University of Western Ontario, London, Canada. He is a licensed professional engineer in the province of Ontario, Canada and a senior member of the IEEE. He is a contributing author of a number of refereed journals and proceeding papers, and book chapters in the areas of wireless communications. His research interest includes Spread Spectrum and MIMO systems, OFDM systems; channel estimation and detection in the physical layer of wireless mobile, satellite communications and grounding systems. Also, he is involved in the study of software applications.

Didn't contain the promised software and texts are weak

First, it was advertised to include CYME GRD software, even claiming so on the back cover. It doesn't. There's no mention of the software in the text.

Second, the book has detailed mathematical treatments of most topics and so far, I haven't found problems with them, granted I've only gone through some of the derivations in chapter 3 (Symmetrical and Unsymmetrical Faults) and chapter 4 (Grounding System Parameters). But the descriptive texts preceding and following the derivations are often weak at explaining the purpose for the derivation and the conclusion.

The only book you need for this itinerary.

This is exactly the vacation that we took, and we read just about every page of this book. Info is accurate to a tee! If I was going to ask for anything more it would be to have a larger (perhaps fold out?) Map of each park instead of maps of sections of each park. But we ended up getting those kinds of maps at ranger stations so it didn't matter in the end.

Given the popularity of these parks, I was surprised to find little on the internet about them, especially Banff. Despite doing a lot of research on the internet, this book added tremendously to our trip to Banff Park. Well organized, thoughtful, packed with useful tips, and accurate even though it's a bit dated now.

Solid outdoors guide

If you are interested in the Canadian Rockies, and these parks in particular, because you want to be outside, on the trails, in a boat, this is the best overall guide I could find. There are other guides that focus in on detailed specifics of 200+ trails, and the Moon guide will focus more on where to stay and what to eat. For the hiker and backpacker, this has much more information than Moon, with just enough detail on towns and facilities to get you from place to place.
