Me ha gustado su realidad y su actualidad. He disfrutado su narrativa y descriptiva. La recomiendo al grupo de adultos de 30. A 35 años q no saben disfrutar de lo q tienen....pareja, trabajo, familia. Y q no buscan dentro de si su felicidad. Pero acepto q le falta algo al final......posiblemente está pero no lo veo, diálogo de pareja un poco más profundo a nivel de sentimientos.

I'm not keeping it.

I have read Coelho in both languages (English and Spanish) and I just love his books. However this one didn't click for me. It was slow, lack of feeling and even if narrated in first person did sound dictated, impersonal. For me, this is just one I won't keep, I just will remove it from my list and done. However I will always give Coehlo a chance because the majority of his work talk highly about his quality as a writer and a person.

A must-read! Totally opened my eyes.

I re-purchased this book after realizing that it totally shifted the way I view the world when I first read it back in 2001. Even though it's from the 1980's, Angela Davis's words are still relevant, and especially illuminating for me, as a white woman. I just really loved and appreciated this book and am excited to read it again. I also remember reading "Ain't I A Woman?" by bell hooks at that time, and recommend reading the two in tandem. Great insights from two of this country's preeminent thinkers.

I give this book 4.5 stars which rounds up to 5.

I read this book for my Women in Politics class.

This book's central focus is intersectional feminism. It highlights how gender, race, and class factor into inequality. This book started off incredibly strong, but lost its way a bit in the later chapters. However, still a fantastic and insightful book.

The crates of the lost expedition, however, arrive back in New York City intact, and are consigned to the basement for cataloging. The story picks up back at the museum where murders have begun to occur with dreadful frequency. Forensics reveal the death blows were delivered with unusual strength, the corpses were dismembered with savage violence, and the perpetrator has mighty unusual DNA patterns. A Fast Paced and Very Detailed Thriller

The novel starts off in the Amazon jungle as we accompany a very ill-fated scientific expedition. The expedition seems shelved for a bit, but is actually the basis for the novel. The reader quickly moves to New York's Museum of Natural History as the mysterious crates of this tragic scientific expedition become the focal point of brutal, bizarre homicide investigations. Bodies are found torn apart in the dark recesses and tunnels of the Museum.

We meet FBI agent Pendergast who joins forces with the NYPD's Vince D'Agosta to try and solve the murders before the Museum's big exhibition opening date. Pendergast is not stuffy and D'Agosta offers a bit of tongue in cheek sarcastic comic relief.
Dating back to the Amazon expedition we find the mass killer is basically an intelligent creature; not completely human.

The book is fast-paced and extremely detailed. The amount of detailed research which has gone into the world of scientific studies alone is impressive. The chase for the bizarre killer leads a few groups through the very lower depth labyrinths of the NYMoNH.

The characters are very well developed. The story has its share of twists. The largest twist comes in the Epilogue. Agent Pendergast's debut is certainly a good one.

Fantastic story to sink your teeth into.

I read this book sometime in the late 90s when it first came out. I know I enjoyed the story and all the scientific talk, plus the characters were well-fleshed out and likable. However, I read it on the train while I commuted to work and the full flavor of the story didn't sink in. Since then I have read all the books these two fine authors have produced.

Fast forward 17 to 18 years and I have read this book again, this time using the convenience of the Amazon Kindle reader. This time it took me only a couple of days to read it and I love the rich atmosphere and the fast-paced story with all its suspense.

I guess now I will have to re-purchase all the other books from these authors in the series and re-read them. Yum!

Intriguing, intricate, and intelligent

Agent Pendergast is the perfect Southern Gentleman! But he is also an FBI agent with a score to settle! This character, along with Lieutenant D'Agusta and the others that make this tale come to life, establish a reality that is hard to find in works of this type. One walks right there beside them every step of the way as they explore the mystery of the Museum Beast. One of the best reads of my life!

About the Author
Audre Lorde was born in New York City on February 18, 1934, to Linda Belmar and Frederick Byron Lorde, immigrants from Grenada. She wrote her first poem when she was in the eighth grade. After graduating from Hunter College in New York with a B.A. in 1959, Lorde earned a master's degree in library science at Columbia University in 1961. After working several years as a librarian, during which time she married and gave birth to her two children, Lorde received an National Endowments for the Arts grant in 1968 and became poet-in-residence at Tougaloo College in Mississippi. There she met Frances Louise Clayton, who eventually became her partner of nineteen years. Lorde published her first volume of poetry, The First Cities, in 1968. In 1978 she became a professor of English, first at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York, and later at Hunter College.

Both her poetry and prose have received numerous honors, including nominations for the National Book Award for From a Land Where Other People Live in 1974, the American Library Association's Gay Caucus Book of the Year Award for THE CANCER JOURNALS in 1981, the Manhattan Borough President's Award for Excellence in the Arts in 1988, and the American Book Award for A Burst of Light in 1989. In October of 1990, Lorde's work and life were celebrated by over a thousand women attending the "I Am Your Sister" conference in Boston.

Audre Lorde died of cancer in November 1992 at the age of 58.

Amazing. Simply amazing

Amazing. Simply amazing. Everyone should read it, and especially those affected by cancer. Considerign that 1 in 8 women will ave breast cancer in their lifetime, chances are good that you or someone very close to you will have breast cancer. So just read the book already. For those familiar with Lorde's work this is definitely a must read. She chronicles her battles with cancer and her body. Lorde even finds a way of theorizing about the way women's bodies, in particular women's breast and hair, are made into the "containers" of femininity in American culture such that to lose them, women are made to feel inadequate.

Mishima was great indeed!!!

This book is about love in its purest form, but oddly enough it doesn't hit you over the head with it: a testament to Mishima's beautiful writing and also to the deeper meaning of the story. The main characters Shinji and Hatsue are traditional in every sense and he is drawn to her at first sight, then comes a chance for them to get it on but they don't, even though everyone thinks they did, no thanks to the antagonists Chiyoko who has been westernized along with Yasuo who tries to get it on with Hatsue in a not so traditional way. Mishima was certainly disillusioned with his changing Japan and longed for a return to its traditional roots and this book shows that, as good old tradition triumphs in the end and the antagonists come to some sort of realization of the error of their ways. And like i said, this is the beauty of Mishima's writing, in that first and foremost this is a romance about two teenagers falling in love, but by the end you realize that it is so much more. Mishima was great indeed.

The vanishing rural life

This is an elegiac book about 1950s rural Japan and its values and harsh life, always on the edge of poverty. The plot is simplistic only on the surface but it is at its heart, an exploration of Shintoism in the daily life of simple people. Don't let the plot of boy meets girl and undergoes a few trials before he is permitted to become engaged-it is far more complex. Read it slowly and then consider each detail. It is lyrical in its descriptions of the landscape and sea.

A love poem to an island.

Mishima's love poem to an island, wrapped in a traditional story of young, forbidden love. This was my first Mishima. Like the best poets, Mishima paints vivid pictures of the natural world. The island of Uta-jima comes alive on the pages, its surrounding waters equal parts beautiful and dangerous, its beaches diverse, its ecosystem unique. The love story is familiar, especially for those of us who grew up in small communities where farming and gossip are the primary local trades. For the most part, Mishima likes his characters, even the ones who clearly are not the heroes. In fact, he may like his characters a bit too much, at least in this early stage of his career, as the heroes are somewhat overloaded with virtue. It was also odd to me, that we learn so much about the breasts of the female inhabitants of Uta-jima. But I'm fond of breasts, and you could do worse than have someone of Mishima's capabilities describe them for you.

My son purchased this item after taking a practice test for the air force and not receiving a very high score (19). After reading this book for about a month he re-took the test and scored a 36! Big improvement! He is going to continue to read it and get his score even higher next time!

Highly recomend this.

I got a 48 on the practice test. Got this right after and studied for two weeks and got a 56 on asvab. Im in airforce and my mage scores in practice was m40 a50 g47 e59 after taking the real test my mage was a lot better m57 a54 g63 e73. As you can see there was a big difference and now in leaving next month to bmt.

Mitsuo Matsushita is a professor emeritus of Tokyo University and a counsel to Nagashima, Ohno & Tsunematsu, a leading international law firm in Tokyo. Having earned a Ph.D. degree from Tulane University in 1962 and a D.Jur. degree from Tokyo University in 1968, he went on to be internationally acknowledged as a Japanese expert in the field of competition law and international economic law. In his academic career, he has held professorships in Japan at Sophia University, Tokyo University and Seikei University. He has been a visiting professor at Harvard Law School, Michigan Law School, Columbia Law School, the Monash University in Australia and at the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium. He has written many books and articles on various aspects of international trade and competition and investment law. In his public career, he served as one of the founding members of the Appellate Body of the World Trade Organization from 1995 to 2000.

Thomas J. Schoenbaum serves as Shefelman Professor of Law at the University of Washington. He has taught at the law schools of the University of North Carolina, Tulane University, and the University of Georgia. At Tulane he served as associate dean and at Georgia he was executive director of the Dean Rusk Center of International and Comparative Law. He has practiced law extensively as special counsel for several law firms and has litigated corporate, environmental, and admiralty cases in the federal courts. Professor Schoenbaum has received six Fulbright awards and has held teaching posts in many countries, including Germany, Belgium, the UK, South Africa, Austria, Russia, and Japan. He has served as visiting fellow at St. John's College, Oxford and as principal fellow of the Lauterpacht Research Centre of International Law at Cambridge. Professor Schoenbaum specializes in international commercial and environmental law. He is the author of many articles and books.

Petros C. Mavroidis is Edwin B. Parker Professor of Law at Columbia Law School, and Professor of Law at the University of Neuchatel (Switzerland), New York City. He was previosuly Chair for Competition Law at European University Institute, Florence and member of the Legal Affairs Division at the WTO. He is chief co-rapporteur at the American Law Institute (ALI) for the project "Principles Of International Trade Law: The WTO" and rapporteur for the ILA (International Trade Law Committee).

Michael Hahn is Jean Monnet Professor of European Law at the Faculty of Law and Criminal Sciences, University of Lausanne, and Academic Director of Faculty's LL.M. Programme.
