I was appauled by the size of the book but Wiley part 3 CIA is a detailed study of internal audit key elements and for a great knowledge base for any aspiring internal auditor

Flawed but worthwhile

Overall, a worthwhile primer on BPM but this book also has some serious flaws. When you see a title such as “Ultimate Guide”, you would think no other materials would be necessary – this isn't true with this work. Here’s my overall review in PIN (Positive/Interesting/Needs Improvement) form:

Positive:
• It’s not about the technology. A realistic perspective on the challenges of implementing BPM from an organizational perspective.
• Provides organizational change recommendations for supporting a BPM initiative.
• The “pitfalls to avoid” is worth reading through several times.

Interesting:
• The book does not delve into the evolution of specific frameworks and practices. For example, readers of Michael Porter’s “Competitive Advantage” will immediately recognize it as the source for the organizational value chain (Figure 12). Those with a software engineering background will recognize CMMI as the basis for BPMM. Neither Porter nor SEI are cited in this work; perhaps this isn't necessary because intermediate derivations of the originals are cited, but I found this interesting.

Needs Improvement:
• This book would be better if more example artifacts were presented. It references a website associated with the book, where I had hoped to find such examples, perhaps an errata, and links to some of the source material mentioned in the book. It’s not there - the website is basically advertisement for the book, which is pointless since I have already purchased the book.
• The book has a “self-published” feel to it; it would benefit from proofreaders and editors. For example, page 41 lists 4 key roles within a BPM Center of Excellence, and goes on to describe two of those roles. It doesn't describe the other two, and it feels as though the author intended to describe them but forgot those paragraphs. There are other areas where it seems as though the author was writing, got distracted, and then came back later to continue working. Hopefully a second edition will pass through a “read aloud” check before publication.

Exactly what I wanted with lots of detail

I just finished reading the Ultimate Guide to Business Process Management. It's a no nonsense, straightforward book and I would agree with others that it's well written and full of detail.
Setting up BPM capability can be difficult and I liked this book because it literally gives you the entire blueprint on how to implement BPM from scratch - and it assumes you have no prior knowledge either. It also provides a short history of BPM and comes with a dictionary and practice exam at the back. One thing the author talks about is the use of BPM in larger organizations like Toyota and General Electric. Everyone associates these organizations with TPS and Six Sigma, respectively. However, the author points out that both these organizations were successful because they had a solid BPM foundation in the first place. I also agree with this argument, including his view that BPM should be a business-led initiative, not an IT one.
If you're a beginner, this book will help you understand BPM *fast*. If you're an expert, this book makes an excellent reference guide to keep handy when running BPM projects. Definitely a good investment in my opinion.

I recommend you read "The Ultimate Guide to BPM..." if you are taking a overview of foundations concepts of this practice as governance, maturity, career development model etc. It also aims to clear misunderstand concepts as: diagrams/models; process reengineering; center of excellence; business architecture, systems architecture, and so on... I read it in two days as it is not large but as a consultant in business process architecture I found value with this synthetized, clear and precise approach.. I will use it as a reference must-read book for the members of the process consultancy staff..

useful electrical construction book

I found this is a useful electrical construction book for Electrical Contractors, Electrical designers and Electrical Engineers.

It provides a table of the electrical loads of typical electrical devices and provides the method for calculating the loads, for that alone it is good to purchase. The book is mostly used to put the correct information on the drawings to get approved by the building department and to purchase the correct material for the electrical job.

It's not a primer for rookies unless use with proper instruction. It useful for learning to read Electrical Drawings. It does a good job on providing information for designing electrical small and large buildings from the service up. It touches on Fuses, Breakers, services, Lighting, motors, branch circuits and feeders. It has some good information on doing short circuit calculations and touches on coordination. It even provides a typical set of Electrical Drawings and typical offices.

It full of useful tables, illustrations and pictures to speed up design. I found it simple to use and found a person using this book on u tube that uses this book as a guide. What I liked about this book is that it is easy to read and does not get loaded down with a lots of NEC references or techno babble but does have the most required NEC references to do the job.

This is not a book for passing NEC code. It is for working document. I was surprised to find it. I found it while viewing a course on utube on "short circuit calculations by hand".

All in all it's not bad a book and is good for an advance course or refresher course on Electrical Construction Methods and Designs.

Great book for electrical engineers and technicians

Ok , being honest -- yes , this book has some typos especially when refering to drawings in the book but most of them are self evident. Let me say this -- this book will teach you electrical concepts -- the why and how electrical installations are done and equipment selected unlike other books . The flow of the book is so good that I can't stop reading it . I have been reading it now for a week straight . I am going to buy other books from these authors and from this publisher . Let me just say one thing -- if you plan on getting into the commercial and industrial electrical field, you WILL need this book . It is 600+ pages which says something and not a 150 page book which other reviewers will promote but you know that such a book never does justice to the subject . 600+ pages -- great authors and explanation of concepts , practical examples, pictures, code references -- what more could you ask ? Do yourself a favor and buy this . You cannot be without it on your job if you want to get ahead . If you don't , well , I can't help you .

Excellent Textbook. Well worth reading.

Excellent text on commercial wiring--one of the few out there. Well written and well illustrated. I am an experienced residential contractor and wanted a succinct introduction to commercial wiring and this book is exactly that. For a more in-depth study you'll need to invest in subject-specific texts (like transformers or power correction, etc.).

It was well worth the money and one I'll keep.

Good info even if you think you know about job hunting.

I ended up getting a job before reading much of it. A local unemployment office displays posters by this publisher/author that have career & job hunting tips with the thinking behind the tips included. It was real smart stuff that I hadn't thought about or applied to my own efforts. Seeing those posters was enough to make me want to have the book.

This was not a required book for my first level graduate school course, but it was recommended and I am glad that I purchased it. It was a very helpful supplement to the lecture notes. I would recommend this book for a great overview of corrosion with details on specific metals and alloys, but for those who want a highly technical, in-depth look into corrosion other titles might be more comprehensive.

Not my favorite Picoult

I am a big fan of Jodu Picoult. I've read all but two of her books. This book was a bit disappointing. I had difficulty getting into the story itself, right at the beginning. I had to read over the first few chapters three times to get the plot straight. After that, I had to re-read several other parts of the book because I could not get parts of the story straight. There were many characters, some with more than one name.

Picoult did good research, as she always does. But for me it seemed there were two major plot lines - the one with Ross and Lia/Cecilia/Cissy and John/Az, and the other with Shelby and her son and Eli. The ending didn't really tie the plots together very well. Picoult sometimes will leave things not in perfect order. This book was not a satisfying version of that sort of thing.

I can somewhat buy the spirits but some parts of the spirits and their activities were not believable.

If you read this book, take time to read carefully. Maybe that will help you understand the plot and characters.

I've read several books written by this author, and in my opinion this is not one of her best. The style she chose has the reader jumping from character to character without tying anyone together until closer to the end of the book. She also jumps into another time period. At the end, it all makes sense, but I didn't enjoy being introduced to characters and then not seeing them in the book again for a long period of time. I had a hard time remembering who was who!

Above all that confusion, it was still clear to me that the author has a spectacular writing style, and I will continue to read more of her books - hoping that more won't be as disjointed as this one was.

I thought the writing was great and the characters were well-developed

I thought the writing was great and the characters were well-developed. However, I've read a lot of Jodi Picoult and though this was a good read, it wasn't great. I still enjoyed it and I liked the Native American culture brought into a good ghost story. The other strong feature was how she pulled her characters together and how they related to each other. It's a fun book to read especially if you like ghost hunting.
