About the Author
ANITA FINKELMAN, MSN, RN, is founder and president of Resources for Excellence, a health care consulting firm. She is currently Adjunct Associate Professor/Clinical Nursing at the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing. She has served as Director of Continuing Education and Associate Professor/Clinical Nursing at the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing. Her 30 years of experience in psychiatric nursing includes clinical, educational, and administrative roles in a variety of health care settings. In her administrative positions, she has had experience with managed care and has developed and taught a course on managed care. Ms. Finkelman has authored many books and lectured frequently on administration, managed care, continuing education, and psychiatric nursing, both nationally and internationally, and has also been active in many professional organizations such as the American Psychiatric Nurses Association and Sigma Theta Tau. She also serves on the Editorial Advisory Committee and Editorial Board for "Home Care Provider." Ms. Finkelman has published many books and journal articles throughout her career, including Psychiatric-Mental Health Case Studies published in"Critical Thinking in Nursing: Case Studies Across the Curriculum," Carol Green (Ed.), Prentice Hall Health, 1999; "Psychiatric Home Care," Aspen Publishers, Inc., 1997; "Psychiatric Administration Manual," Aspen Publishers, Inc., 1994 (annual supplements 1995, 1996); "Quality Assurance for Psychiatric Nursing," Aspen Publishers, Inc., 1990 (annual supplements: 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994). If you are a professor, please don't saddle your students with this book.

The books seems to have been put together almost at random, like a original copy of the book got dropped and all the chapters got mixed up.
Finkelman never says in 5 words what she can say in 15.
It's too late for me, I've already had to put up with this book. Save your future students.

not soft enough to be a pillow

With all due respect to a fellow nurse, this is perhaps the worst specimen of academic literature I have ever encountered. I wholeheartedly agree with the rest of these reviews that there is no possible way that this book could have passed through the hands of anyone with "editor" in their credentials. This book is rife with repetition, run on sentences and grammatical errors. I started reading this book for an online class and was 2 chapters in before I realized I could only skim these pages rather than analyze the material with any manner of studious diligence. If I read more than 3 pages in one sitting I have to stop from dizziness and nausea. There are sentences in this book that actually hurt my eyes. I cannot wait until this class is over and I can be rid of this book. I usually keep my old nursing textbooks in case I need them later but this one has to go.

Better than Ambien

Boring and uninteresting. This has been one of the hardest books to read due to its inability to engage my interest in the subject matter. I believe my school could have chosen a better text for this course. The most incredulous aspect of this text are the frequent spelling and grammatical errors found throughout. Did anyone proofread this book? If this is the quality of writing (and editing) provided to our future leaders and managers our profession is indeed in trouble!
